IWC UNIQ Glazed Operable Wall
IWC UNIQ is a glass wall that stacks away, and forms an independent zone when it is extended. Full toughened glass panels are suspended from a ceiling track: run them out when a large space needs to become several rooms, stack them away and the space is one again. Double glazing with Fast Set retractable top and bottom seals reaches up to STC 48, so meeting rooms, ballrooms and training centres change scale as the day requires.
Acoustic performance
STC 35 to 39 single glazed, and STC 45 to 48 double glazed, specified to the acoustic requirement of the space.
Acoustic seals
A vertical tongue and groove profile between panels closes the joint against sound. Fast Set retractable seals at head and floor apply steady pressure once each panel locks into position, cutting the path sound would otherwise take through the gaps.
Panel construction
Panels are 85mm thick as standard, faced in toughened glass, with all four edges wrapped in a 6063-T5 architectural grade anodised aluminium protective frame that holds both visual clarity and structural strength.
Track and carrier system
A Type D450 heavy duty aluminium track in 6063-T6 architectural grade anodised aluminium. Panels are top hung on the track, with the carrier configuration selected to suit the track layout and stacking arrangement, so they move smoothly and both setting out and stacking away are quick.
Panel dimensions
Individual panels are 750 to 1200mm wide and 1500 to 3500mm high, covering everything from a standard office floor to a high ceilinged multifunction space. The final configuration follows the site dimensions and the stacking arrangement.
Options and finishes
A pass door is available, so people can move through while the wall stays extended. Clear toughened glass as standard, with sprayed glass finishes and a range of powder coated aluminium frame colours available to match the design.
When a space has to flex, without giving up quiet
One meeting room holds a ten person leadership meeting on Monday, splits into two breakout rooms on Wednesday, and opens up again on Friday for an all hands. A ballroom hosts a wedding in the morning and a forum in the afternoon. The space is asked to do more, and every one of those uses still needs its own quiet.
A fixed partition cannot make that change. UNIQ keeps both openness and sound insulation: full toughened glass keeps the space open, while the manufacturer’s track and seal system delivers STC 35 to 48 depending on the build up. Stacked away, the space opens at once. Extended, each room keeps the quiet it needs.

The manufacturer’s catalogue rates single glazed UNIQ at STC 35 to 39 and double glazed at STC 45 to 48. Double glazing is the specification to use where two rooms have to run at the same time. What a finished room achieves also depends on whether the return air void above the ceiling and the floor junction are handled as part of the same design.

Panels are suspended from a Type D450 heavy duty aluminium track, and the track has to be fixed to structure capable of carrying the load. Ceiling height, structural form and the position of building services all need confirming in advance. The right time to coordinate this is at drawing stage, between Applied Spaces, the design team and the services engineers.
It depends on the number of panels, their individual width and how they stack. The position and depth of the stacking area should be designed in at plan stage, and Applied Spaces can advise on the configuration from the site drawings.
