Why comparing unit rates alone misleads
The real cost of a partition only shows over its life cycle. Modular systems are dry jointed, so when you relocate or reconfigure, walls are dismantled and rebuilt rather than demolished; the saving next time is not just the wall itself but the downtime and disposal. Documentation is also part of what you are buying: laboratory test reports, duty ratings, BIM components and warranty terms decide whether handover has any basis and whether anyone is accountable later. Frequently asked questions
Is double glazing always better than single?
No. It depends on the room. For general discussion areas and focus rooms, single glazed acoustic walls (tested up to Rw 40dB) are usually sufficient. Reserve double glazed configurations (tested up to Rw 43dB) for confidential meeting rooms or rooms next to noise sources. Spending the budget where it matters beats upgrading everything.
Will the doors be the most expensive part?
Per unit area, doors are often the highest-cost element and the acoustic weak point: double glazed doors test at Rw 42dB, sliding doors around 36dB. Specify each door by the room it serves rather than one grade throughout.
When should the site survey happen?
As early as possible. A survey pins down ceiling, floor and services conditions, turning the quote from an estimate into something executable and avoiding change orders after work starts.
